We are looking for an experienced, passionate and collaborative Engineering Manager to join our team of over fifty passionate engineers in our mission to simplify labor management and improve performance for restaurants everywhere! This is an opportunity for someone who wants to get in on the ground floor of a transforming industry and play a critical role in driving our continued success while helping us support the restaurant industry's recovery from Covid.

The position is remote friendly (anywhere in Canada), with the option to work from our offices in Saskatoon and Toronto.

What you’ll do:

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team of 4-6 developers, a product manager, engineering manager and designer to develop customer facing features that simplify restaurant management and drive employee engagement
  • Identify and resolve impediments to team productivity
  • Experiment with processes to continuously improve your team. 
  • Prioritize tech debt and work with the team to manage a technical backlog and roadmap
  • Help organize and facilitate dev meetings and cross team communication, with a strong focus on driving alignment.
  • Mentor and coach teammates, helping them identify skill gaps and working with them to continue growing

What you have:

  • 5 or more years of software development experience, but if you’re awesome, we’re flexible
  • Experience managing or leading individuals
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design 
  • A drive to improve the individuals around you
  • The ability to give and receive feedback, and ensure that expectations are clear and understood

It’d be even cooler if you had:

  • Proven experience building robust & scalable web/app services
  • Knowledge of DDD (Domain Driven Design) and CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Separation) to manage coupling and define boundaries
  • Experience with MySQL/Postgresql and Redis
  • Familiarity with programming languages like PHP, Javascript, Kotlin, Java or Swift/Objective C
  • Experience growing a team through hiring, and training
